The Supreme Court has directed the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to disclose its policy on publishing answer keys for the NEET-PG exam. The bench comprising Justices P S Narasimha and Vipul Pancholi asked the counsel, representing the NBE, to file an affidavit and clear its stand.
The matter came up before the bench during the hearing of a batch of petitions raising various issues concerning the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-Postgraduate (PG) exams, including the disclosure of answer keys as a matter of transparency.
In September this year, another bench comprising justices J B Pardiwala and K V Viswanathan issued notice to the Centre and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences on petitions seeking publication of the answer keys for NEET-PG 2025.
The apex court, in April, had directed the publication of raw scores, answer keys and normalisation formula for transparency.
The Supreme Court's directive is a significant development for NEET-PG aspirants, who have been demanding transparency in the examination process. The disclosure of answer keys will help students to verify their answers and ensure that they are not unfairly marked.
