The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially extended the NEET PG 2025 choice filling for round 1 till further notice. The decision has been taken to buy time to revise the seat matrix that was affected by introducing new MD/MS clinical seats in the medical colleges by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The repeated delay has upset the aspirants, and it has impacted the academic cycle. Moreover, the decision taken by the Health Ministry during the 2020 pandemic to postpone the NEET PG 2020 counselling continues to have a cascading effect — each year, the new batch joins late due to the delayed schedule, thereby increasing the workload on second- and third-year PG residents.
The delay in the counselling process results in a shortage of resident doctors for patient care in the hospital. It further creates a ripple effect, leading to institutional challenges. By the time all rounds of counselling will finish, it will be a delay of 2-3 months, effectively shortening their academic year and disrupting the subsequent cycle of admissions and clinical training next year again.
The reason behind extending the tenure of the final year batch of PG residents is to reduce the workload on existing batches until the new batch joins after counselling.
Aspirants need to wait as the NMC plans to increase the total number of clinical seats amid the ongoing process. They should keep an eye on the official website for updates on the counselling process and be prepared for the revised seat matrix.
PG aspirants are shattered as MCC further delays NEET PG 2025 counselling indefinitely. Aspirants deserve clarity on the counselling timeline, not endless uncertainty.
